Proteus had become bored in the capital, waiting for the queen to arrive at her palace. She was probably there, but he hadn't been properly greeted yet. Sick of being behind palace walls, he decided to get out and travel the kingdoms to see if they were to his liking. His horse was a bit challenging, not wanting to take the routes Proteus steered it towards, but once coming to a ledge, it lost its footing. Panicking, Proteus tried to rein it back, but the horse's hoof slipped off of some rocks, making them fall. Cursing, Proteus fell hard onto the forest floor, groaning once his back hit against it. But suddenly, the horse fell onto his leg, crushing it as he winced, trying not to cry out, but hissed out a gasp of pain as he tried to get out from underneath it.

A dull, sudden noise shot through the forest, making Benjamin stop mid-air. Always aware he tried to make out where the sound was coming from. The horses shrieks made it easy enough for him, and he was quickly at the site, hiding in the shadow of a great oak tree. A man on a horse usually only meant one thing for him, and that was trouble. However, as he studied the scene he could see no arrows, no bows, just a man in pain... He wasn't sure what to do. He wanted to help, but if he did and this was a trap, it could very well mean his own life. The man was struggling, and obviously in pain. Benjamin couldn't ignore it for long, before he flew down from his branch and onto the soft ground a few meters away from the man and the horse which now seemed to be getting to his feet, running off without its rider. "Caw," Benjamin tried carefully, seeing if it would spark something dangerous in the man when he spotted him.

Proteus gulped, visibly gasping out in relief as the pressure soon receded from his leg as the horse rode off riderless. Rolling his eyes, he looked at his leg, grunting in pain. With a sigh, he moved so it was more comfortable to sit for a moment. There was no way he was walking any time soon. But then, he heard a caw. Furrowing his brows, he looked to the side, seeing a small raven and let out a breathy chuckle, "Hello there." he gulped, looking back at his leg but saw out of the corner of his eye that the raven was still there. How strange... he thought to himself.

No immediate danger... but this might still be a trick.. maybe the man only wanted him closer so that he could grab him. In any case, he judged, the man was in no position to threaten him, he was far too weak, and if others were nearby, they would already have shot him as soon as he left the shadows of the tree. "Caw," he tried again, louder, as he hopped closer to the man and cocked his head to the side in curiosity of the situation. He seemed badly hurt..

Proteus looked over once more at the second caw. As it hopped over he cocked his head to the side. It was as if the raven was inspecting him or judging him. With a blinked, he hummed in thought and looked over the raven. Sighing, he looked at it with a chuckle, "Are you watching me?" he shook his head, "I must be going crazy or hit my head on a rock." Proteus then looked around, finding a large stick and placed it under his leg, being mindful of the raven to not scare it off as he ripped his shirt, then used the torn fabric to tie the stick to his leg, using it as a splint. "Does that seem secure?" he asked to the raven then shook his head at himself. Why am I talking to a bird?

Benjamin shook his head in answer. He should have gotten a larger stick, but he supposed it wasn't easy for the man to reach larger sticks. Looking around, Benjamin flew off into the dark between the trees, leaving the man to himself, but not for long. A moment later, he re-appeared, pulling a far larger stick, one that might not snap as easily as the man's fragile one. It was an exhausting process. The stick was too heavy and too big to carry while flying, so he had to pull it on the ground. However, it didn't take too long before the stick was laid on the ground within the man's reach. There, that might help him a little..

((Sorry I'm so slow ;3; I keeping getting pulled by my mom to help out with stuff XD ))
Proteus sighed when the raven left. He thought it was good company for a little while. Groaning, he tried to stand, but fell back immediately. Yet, when he saw the raven come back, he arched an eyebrow. Seeing how exhausted it was, he reached out to help the raven not carry it so far. He smiled, securing the larger stick instead. "This is much better," he whispered, "Thanks." he looked over then furrowed his brows, "Wait...you understood me...." he said in disbelief, "What...are you?"

[OOC: Dw, I don't mind I might head to bed in about an hour or so though, maybe even less xD] Trust me, you wouldn't like the answer...He might have to show him though. There was no way he could stand, he had proven that, and the next town was far enough away for him not to be able to crawl there. When night struck it would be freezing cold here, that was the downside of being so far north. He would freeze if he didn't get help soon. He quickly flew behind a tree, out of sight for the man, turning his head and making sure no one could see him as he transformed. People may not recognize him as a man, and they may not recognize him as a raven, but seeing him transform would make the whole deal pretty obvious to most. When he emerged he dared not go too far, and stayed by the trees. "Who are you?" he asked hoarsly and winced. It was hard on him being in his human form for long, especially now that he had little energy to spare. If he were to help him it should happen fast, but he needed to make sure the man was not a threat, just one last time.

((awwwww no worries!! :3 we can always continue tomorrow or later on )) Proteus sighed when it flew behind a tree, thinking it scared the raven off, then arched an eyebrow at the hoarse voice. Gasping, he let his jaw go slack slightly crawled back as best as he could in disbelief. He didn't need to see a transformation to know that this man had been the raven earlier with the inquisitive manner and the dark features. At the question, he gulped, knowing he had to gain his trust if he were to be helped any more and would surely repay him, "Prince Proteus of the Felpierre Kingdom," he said lightly, he was sure he probably wouldn't know. The kingdom was so far away. Taking a breath and furrowing his brows, "And who are you?"

Ahh great, a prince.. the only thing worse would be a princess.. He leaned on a treetrunk and rubbed his eyes with his right hand. He should've just ignored this whole thing. What had he gotten himself into? Sure, he only wanted to help the guy, he wasn't heartless after all, but was it really worth it if it meant his own life instead? He sighed, and looked up at the man again. Proteus. It was nothing he could do about it now, the damage had already been done. "You don't want to know," he said. Truth was, Benjamin didn't want him to know. He didn't want him to speak of this to anyone. "There's a town about four, five miles east of here. Could you walk if you leaned on me?"

Proteus groaned, trying to sit up more and looked up at him, "Well, I want to repay you for your kindness..." he looked him over, "You looked drained." he said concerned. Hearing that the town wasn't too far, he sighed in relief. Of course he couldn't do it by himself, but at the offer, he smiled gratefully, "If you wouldn't mind. But I don't want to tire you out." Proteus then groaned, using a rock to help himself up a bit more and winced, "If I lean a lot on my good leg, we should get there quickly. And I'll reward you handsomely, I promise." he smiled. Bottom line, he needed help soon, and he wanted to repay this raven...er..man. But the way he kept avoiding his name, it was as if he didn't want to be found. Who is this man? he thought to himself.

"It's a bit late for that," he mumbled, but reached out a hand to help the man up to his feet. "That stick won't hold for very long," he said, and neither will I. "We should hurry up." The man seemed nice enough, but he had learned to live on his own, and that was the way it was bound to stay. He could trust no one, interacting with people may very well, literally, kill him. It wasn't a risk he was willing to take just for friends. He was fine on his own.

Proteus nodded, the little raven carrying the stick was hard enough and tired him out. He couldn't even fathom what it must feel like to transform, "How long can you stay like this?" he asked worriedly, more for the raven's sake rather than his own. He gasped lightly once he was on his feet, letting out a long, drawn out breath and shook his head in agreement, "We'll probably have to stay at an Inn or something. I'll make sure you're taken care of as well." he smiled and began to walk, wincing slightly but make sure he carried a lot of his own weight. He felt bad for making the raven having to do so much and being a prince, he only needed servants to take care of him, by the looks of things, the raven was on his own and wanted to help him.

"I won't be staying with you. I'll leave before we reach the inn," he told Proteus, but ignored his other question. Truth was, he didn't know how long he could stay human, but the thought worried him as well. If he couldn't keep his form long enough, it would mean problems for the both of them. They moved reasonably fast, though not as fast as he had originally hoped. This would be a long walk he feared, and he might be spotted by someone far more dangerous any second. He kept his head down, at the same time as he tried not to act too suspicious. [OOC: Going to bed now, but I'll reply to you first thing in the morning 'Night ^^]

((awwwww alrighty!! G'night :3 ))
Proteus sighed, "All right then...I'm just worried about your strength." he said with a brotherly tone. At the raven ignoring his question, which hopefully on this walk he'd learn his name at some point, he sighed. This guy sure liked to keep to himself. How was he supposed to let him open up? The guy seemed all right. Keeping up the pace, trying to quicken it, he looked over at him, furrowing his brows and let out a breathy chuckle, "You look like you murdered someone or are on the run. If you're trying to hide, don't act so much like it," he smiled, shaking his head, "Otherwise, people will think you're looking for trouble."
