His words made Benjamin flinch. What would he do if he found out he really was? Turn him in? Kill him right there? At this close range it would be far too easy for him to grab after a dagger or something, even if injured. He would be in trouble himself if Benjamin died, but wouldn't he be in more trouble being seen with a fugative? He'd be seen as a traitor in Kopélia. Who knows what Charlotte would do? All he could think of other than that was that he was making too much noise. Talking too much. He was attracting attention. However, he couldn't very well say that, or he would instantly know something was up, and then more than just his suspicions now. He decided just not to talk back, and hoped he would get the hint soon enough that he was in no mood to talk. Better to be rude than dead.

((LOL sorry I took so long to reply. I went to the aquarium today so much fun XD )) Actions speak much louder than words, Proteus thought to himself in his mind. At the silence he was given, he only nodded, muttering a light, "Sorry," in case he had offended him. It made sense at least - this man not talking and such suspicion when they first met and helping him. He didn't want to be found for whatever he did. And Proteus knew he talked too much - a trait he'd received from his father; but the truth was that he was Lonely. In this new place, he only had Mulan (not even with him at the moment) and no one else. He needed a friend and this man was already kind enough to help him. Sighing, he grunted as he put a little more weight on himself, "Does that help any?" he asked, not wanting to exhaust the raven more than he had.

[OOC: No worries, I know everyone are busy outside of editing and roleplaying xDD I don't mind waiting at all ] "As long as it doesn't slow you down," he said, wondering how far they had gone already. It was hard to recognize the place from down on the ground. It did help a little, but he would sooner that the trip was quick than easy. He couldn't afford to be caught. "When we reach the end of the forest, do you think you could walk on your own the last way, if I got you a large stick as a cane or something?" He didn't want to risk being seen by villagers and such.

((awwww lol thanks so much XD I really like these two as friends :3 too bad Benjamin's gonna fly away D: nuuuu XD ))
Proteus shook his head with a grin, "I may be injured, but I'm still strong." he chuckled lightly - which was true, it was just the pressure of the horse that had been on his leg earlier that caused him the most pain. But still, the pressure he was putting on it was a tiny bit of a strain, but not making it noticeable so he wouldn't put more weight for the raven man to carry more than he needed to. With a nod, he smiled in a friendly manner, "I believe so. I could easily limp the rest of the way once we reach the end." he sighed softly, looking to him, "Are you sure I can't repay you some way for this? And I promise I won't tell anyone."

"You can repay me by never speaking of this to anyone," he told him, looking at Proteus, and for once showing a slight hint of fright. "If anyone found out..." He really doubted the man would be able to limp at all. Horses weren't light, he'd be extremely lucky if nothing in his leg was broken, and even then surely he must have sprained something. He wanted to appear strong, but no man could walk away from that not seriously injured.

Proteus nodded, "All right. Thank you...again." he smiled then hissed out a groan, wincing slightly and nodded, "On second thought, yes, a walking stick would be good." he let out a heavy sigh. He wished he could be strong enough; Proteus felt like nothing but a burden to the person that saved him. To which, he wish he could befriend and suddenly he thought/regretted mentioning that he was a prince.

He smiled, the only weakness he could see in Proteus was the wish to be strong. "Wait here," he told him and quickly transformed into a raven. The transformation felt like a burden lifted off of his shoulders, but he knew he couldn't enjoy it for too long. He flew up, getting an overview of where they were, before flying back down to his side, transforming back into a human. He got him the best stick he could find, and hoped it would be good enough to keep him balanced. "Not far now, just a mile, maybe less," he told him. And good was that, dark had begun to fall.

Proteus blinked when he told him to wait, suddenly feeling a loss of balance and quickly regained it with a bit of pain, but shook his head with a chuckle. A smile appeared on his lips as he watched the raven transform and fly - only wishing he could himself. Gratefully, he took the large stick, using it to keep himself balanced and stable as he limped a bit, "Thank you. I feel like an old man with this," he snickered, pointing out the stick and looked to the other, "Well, if you change your mind, I would have no trouble repaying you." he grinned.

"With what? Money?" he chuckled. "Feathers weren't made with pockets. Thanks anyway." Luckily he could get every nurishment a raven needed easily, and trees to sleep in weren't hard to come by either. Once in a while he would pick a traveler's pockets to afford some coffee. He wasn't proud of it, but he saw it as one of his essentials to get by.

"Well no," Proteus laughed, finding his comment both true and humorous, "But when you're human and happen to need money, don't hesitate to ask. Or any help really." he smiled, "I'm in debt to you, so whether that's security, or a place to hide, or anything you can think of, find me. And if you ever need a friend, I wouldn't be a bad one." he chuckled.

He sighed. It was nice of him but... "I can't leave the forest." He couldn't. He couldn't be spotted. If he was, it would most likely mean his death, and that risk he wasn't willing to take just for friendship. Who needs friends when you're dead?

Proteus blinked. He must've done something horrible to be in this much hiding. Nodding, he smiled, "I understand." he chuckled, "Well, I hope our paths cross again. It's certainly been an interesting experience." he smiled, leaning on the stick once more.

"Be careful what you wish for," he said seriously. He actually sort of liked the man, he wouldn't want him to get in trouble because of him. With that he turned to a raven once again, relieved of the strain he flexed his wings in joy. He rarely loved his raven form so much as when he had stayed human too long.

Proteus nodded as the raven then flew off. He caught his balance, waving goodbye as he watched him fly off, smiling to himself. He'd made a plan to visit everyday and befriend him since he couldn't leave the forest. Chuckling, he began to limp towards the village, balancing on the stick.
