Pitch had left Fleur in town, let the young girl have the fun of exploring and enjoying peace while it lasted. He was sure it would last longer than the west kingdoms had. But he wasn't sure. The moon shone brightly down on the path and the dark man moved more like a shadow than a person. His golden eyes searched the area, Pitch wasn't sure why he was here just yet but he had felt that something had called him here.
So far, nothing had seemed out of of the ordinary and then he saw it. A beautiful castle, of white. Upon closer inspection, Pitch saw that it was made of ice. A memory flashed of a young girl with blonde hair and one who saw the beauty in winter but that had been manipulated to fear. That was what had drawn her to him. But it couldn't have been the same girl could it?

Even though Elsa had convinced herself that living alone was the best thing for her, she still couldn't resist walking down from her castle every now and again. Sometimes, just getting close to the nearby towns was enough. Other times, she actually entered it. She didn't see the people posing as a threat. Nobody here really knew who she was, who she used to be. And that was good enough for her. However, her castle hadn't even left her sight yet when she spotted somebody nearby. For a moment, she tensed, wondering if it was some reckless person trying to sneak in. People had tried that before, when they had stumbled upon the ice palace. Luckily, Elsa always had a way to throw them out. But, upon closer inspection, she recognized who it was. Grey skin like that and yellow eyes that almost glowed could only belong to Pitch Black. Elsa had only spoken with him a few times before, and he could be a bit unnerving. But, if she was honest with herself, he was the only person genuinely interested in her. He was the closest thing she had to a friend, and she wasn't sure how to feel about that. "Pitch," she said evenly, drawing her blue cape tighter around her.

Pitch's stone-cold face turned to a soft smile. "I thought I recognized you. You've grown." he looked her up and down. She had changed, though he wasn't sure if it was for the better. Maybe it was. She didn't seem as scared as she had been during the time as a child. His golden eyes left her face to stare up at the castle. "I take it that this is your castle then?" he asked, though he very well knew the answer. Out of all the powers in the world, ice had been something of beauty, and Elsa seemed to understand that even as a child. "It has been too long hasn't it?"

"That does tend to happen, when time goes by," Elsa replied, not able to resist making a sarcastic remark. But she knew she shouldn't act so cold towards Pitch. He hadn't tried to use her in any way since she had met him, unlike others in her life. She had to take comfort in that thought. But she still looked at him as if he were a stranger. She still didn't really know that much about him, except that he was skilled with dreams and that he loved it when people feared him. Elsa had even feared him, when she had first met him. Now...now she wasn't so sure. She nodded. "Mm-hmm. I thought I should make one for myself, since the one I was born in was..." Her voice trailed off. Even after all these years, speaking of her parents' death still pained her. Part of her still wished to kill Briar Rose for what she had done, avenge her parents. But another part of her said that was stupid. Why should she go back to the Western Kingdoms, when she could live in peace here, away from anyone that would want to hurt her? "Yes, it has," she agreed. Even though she wasn't sure if Pitch was her friend, she was actually glad to have someone that knew a bit about her, knew where she was coming from, and didn't shy away from the scars she bore, physically and mentally. Her wrists still had faint marks from pulling on her chains for so long.

Pitch gave a small smile. He wasn't sure how else to approach her, it had been so long. He still saw the young little girl who had just gotten used to her powers. And who had to deal with the Queen Aurora. He had never met this queen but had heard many things and many people had been afraid of her. "Well, you deserve a place of your own Elsa.' he said. Had he really been that away from civilzation that long? Was an apology in order? He wasn't sure. He knew it would be better to say something than to have it be awkward. "You really do understand the beauty of ice. I always thought that."

Elsa actually smiled a little at that. Yeah, she did deserve a place of her own. It seemed kind of consolation, after everything that had happened. "It does suit me," she said. She had crafted it with her own hands, had let her powers go to shape it how they wanted. She rarely let go of control like that, but at the moment, it had seemed right. "Seems like we each have our specialties we understand pretty well," she said. "I have ice and you have...nightmares."

Pitch nodded and smiled. "Yes, I suppose that is true." he replied, brushing a piece of hair out of his face. "I suppose you could say that in times like this, it gets much more interesting to have nightmares around. But it doesn't seem to be right to use it when that queen is taking out the fun of it."

Elsa stiffened slightly at the mention of Briar Rose. Even now, she couldn't help but react that way when her name was mentioned. That woman had changed Elsa's life forever, and not in a good way. Although she was surprised to hear Pitch say that she was taking the fun out of his nightmares and what-not. "Really? I thought you would be having a ball in a time like this. Everyone is so scared of her..."

"Yes, scared of her." Pitch said with a sigh. "It is my job to make them afraid, but she is stealing the fun of it." he replied. "I don't mind, but its not fun to be outshined by someone who already has fame." He had a small kidding tone but it would be hard to tell if the shadow man was actually kidding. "But enough of that. Tell me, how are you?"

"Oh." Yes, it was probably no fun for Pitch, to have somebody who could make people scared better than he could. But, that was how Briar Rose did things. If she couldn't make the people love her, then by God, she was going to make them fear her. And so far, it seemed to be working. Only few were like Elsa, and brave enough to escape from her. "Better," she replied. "Content. I don't know how long it will last, but...being alone is doing well for me."

Pitch nodded. "I can see that." he replied, glad to have a change of subject. "It has certainly been quiet for awhile. I have no doubt that something big will happen soon though. I hope that it doesn't but then again, maybe it would make things more interesting for me."

Elsa smirked. "I guess it would." Pitch didn't thrive when things were peaceful and quiet. Not many people were scared then. But when things were bad, like in the Western Kingdoms, well, he could certainly get his fill there. "You may have to go somewhere else for excitement, instead of sticking around here then. But then again, you always seem to find your way back to me, somehow."

Pitch couldn't help but smile at that. "Oh, i think that's true. But one doesn't like to stay away from home too long now do they?" he asked. "Maybe I just know when people are in need of a little fear or excitement in their lives and that draws me to them." He looked at Elsa, still seeing the small girl as a child. "You were in need of that excitement. I only gave it to you."

Elsa couldn't deny that. When things always seemed to get really bad, Pitch showed up at just the right time. Despite being a frightening person, she had almost looked forward to his visits, if only because he was the only one who listened to her fears. Of course, she knew he probably enjoyed feeding off them, but still. He listened to her without admonishing her, or telling Briar Rose what she said. That was more than she could say for some of the other people in the castle. "But times have changed now. I'm not the scared little girl that Briar Rose used to have," she said. "Will that mean you'll visit less often?"

"Oh, i don't think you'll have to worry about that Elsa." he said. "I have other things I have to attend to." He was a bit surprised to hear that question, most people would have been glad that he hadn't come to visit more. But there was a very special place in his heart for Elsa, almost like his own daughter. She hadn't treated him like a monster or ran away from him (well, not after the second or third time he came by) so it touched him that she actually did care about the nightmare
